Dear colleagues:
On behalf of the Board of Directors, the Executive Committee and myself, I would like to share my deep gratitude for these last months of efforts, dedication, and uninterrupted work under conditions of confinement. For some of you, the situation has been very difficult; you or one of your close relatives have been suffering from the virus. However, despite all the difficulties, Active Re has not only been able to resist and adapt, but to exceed ambitious goals and reach new thresholds of growth, global presence, quality of service and financial and corporate strength.
Our technological support allowed us to find new ways to remain cohesive as a team and very close to our customers and suppliers. In less than two years, we have grown with young and talented professionals, who complement and strengthen the team of veterans.
Thus, at a time like this, we want to honor our valued colleague Tony Eskildsen, one of the founders of Active Re, whose technical leadership, professionalism, and human integrity will always be recognized and remembered. His contribution to the development and growth of the company during all these years is highly valued by all of us. After five decades of admirable career (more than one with Active Re) and recognition of the Latin American insurance and reinsurance industry, today we accept and agree to Tony’s request to reduce his day-to-day related to operational work.
From now on, Tony Eskildsen will continue as part of the Board of Directors and will lead the Surety Committee, an area in which he has demonstrated expertise. An organized process of transition of responsibilities and operational tasks managed by Tony will begin, which will increasingly be assumed by Martín Bages, with immediate focus on the underwriting of facultative businesses in Latin America and worldwide treaties. Martín will be assisted by the region’s underwriting team, maintaining close working relationships and cooperation with the executives in charge of operations in Europe, MENA and APAC.
I want to invite you all, to continue developing our expansion plans to new business lines, new markets, distribution channels and types of contracts. This will demand efforts not only in the underwriting team, but in all areas and activities of the Company.
As soon as circumstances allow, following the new health protocols, we shall meet to celebrate the well-deserved recognition of Tony Eskildsen, formally welcome the new collaborators, and update our strategic projections for the next three years.
